On June 24th, Datametrex published a press release entitled Datametrex Completes Shipping of Second $500,000 Purchase Order to Canadian Mining Company that included a quote from Pierre Gratton, the President and CEO of the Mining Association of Canada (MAC).
MAC and its members are aggressively applying all tools, including test kits and remote labs, to protect employees and community members in response to COVID-19. However, MAC wants to make it clear that the association had no prior knowledge of this media release and the attributed quote was manufactured without Pierre Gratton’s input or consent. MAC does not promote any specific COVID-19 testing company for Canada’s mining industry, and anything indicating the contrary is false. It is important that our association go on the record to disavow its inclusion in Datametrex’s media statement.
For information on how Canada’s mining industry has responded to the COVID-19 pandemic, including details on screening and testing, visit www.mining.ca/covid-19.
The mining industry is a major sector of Canada’s economy, contributing $97 billion to national GDP and responsible for 19 percent of Canada’s total domestic exports. Canada’s mining sector employs 626,000 people directly and indirectly across the country. The industry is proportionally the largest private sector employer of Indigenous peoples in Canada and a major customer of Indigenous-owned businesses.
About MAC
