How Can You Get Involved in TSM?

Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) is a performance-based program that helps mining companies turn environmental and social commitments into action on the ground. At the same time, it provides communities, investors, purchasers, and other communities-of-interest with valuable information on how operations are performing in important areas, such as Indigenous relations, community outreach, tailings management, biodiversity conservation, and more. Overseen by a network of independent, national multi-stakeholder panels, TSM also contributes to dialogue between the mining industry and its communities of interest to help build trust and mutual understanding. These panels also serve as a crucial mechanism for TSM’s ongoing evolution.

There are different ways to get involved in and support TSM. Mining companies can implement the initiative through different mechanisms—by joining participating national associations or through the Mining Association of Canada’s (MAC) subscription service. Communities of interest can participate in national panels and in the audit process, take advantage of online and web-based training to learn more about how TSM works, as well as access all performance data. MAC also offers virtual TSM training seminars twice per year for which you can sign up here.
