2025 was a year that demanded a lot from Canada’s mining industry & delivered a great deal in return.
The global context couldn’t have been more dynamic. A new federal government took office following Prime Minister Mark Carney’s election victory in April, arriving with a mandate centred on economic growth, nation-building, and regulatory efficiency.
Trade tensions with the United States continued to test Canada’s export-dependent economy. And through it all, the case for mining, as a supplier of the metals and minerals that underpin clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and national security only grew stronger. Canada’s mining industry entered 2025 wellpositioned for this moment, and MAC’s job was to make sure governments knew it.
