Deborah Qanatsiaq

As the local Baffinland Community Liaison Officer in Sanirajak, Nunavut, Deborah Qanatsiaq engages on a daily basis with Inuit in her community about career and training opportunities in mining. She excels at creating opportunities for the company and community.

Taryn Roske

Cameco Corporation’s Taryn Roske started her mining career as a Radiation Technician at the company’s Rabbit Lake operation in northern Saskatchewan and is the first Indigenous woman to be a jet bore system operator at the company’s Cigar Lake mine.

Samantha Espley

In addition to spending 30+ years in Canada’s mining sector through her work in innovation at Vale in Sudbury, Samantha Espley is the  Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum’s President and is a dedicated volunteer of the Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation and the Canadian Mining Innovation Council.

Catherine Tegelberg

Catherine Tegelberg is leading Newmont Corporation’s global approach to Indigenous relations and has extensive experience, both within Canada and across the globe, in mining, sustainability, community engagement and Indigenous consultation.

Gülsüm Akkaya

Gülsüm Akkaya works for Eldorado Gold at the mining company’s operations in Turkey and is an underground supervisor at Efemcukuru. She is the first woman to occupy this senior position at this site.

Allison Merla

Allison Merla advises on effective environmental stewardship for Vale’s Canadian mining operations, providing support on sustainability initiatives. She is the Chair of MAC’s Environment Committee and is a member of the Ontario Mining Association and the Ontario Waterpower Association.

Monica Moretto

Monica Moretto is Pan American Silver’s VP of Social Sustainability, Diversity and Inclusion. Monica created a CSR department focused on championing women’s rights in mining, both in Canada and abroad, and is an active Board Member of Women Who Rock.

Marie Inkster

Marie Inkster is the President, CEO and Director of Lundin Mining Corporation. Lundin was one of the lead sponsors of the Canadian Museum of Nature’s Courage And Passion exhibit which focused on encouraging girls to explore careers in STEM, including in mining.

Martha Manuel

Martha Manuel, the recipient of Women in Mining Canada’s 2020 Trailblazer Award, focuses on ensuring Canada’s mining sector creates long term benefits for the communities in which it operates.
