Megan Lord-Hoyle

Megan Lord-Hoyle is a senior sustainable development and health and safety executive. 

As Vice President of Sustainable Development, Health & Safety and Environment at Baffinland Iron Mines Corporation, Megan has guided her team through several major environmental assessment and permitting processes, most recently focused on development of the 149 km Steensby Railway, which will be Canada’s first Arctic railway. Joining Baffinland in 2016, she has played an integral role in advancing the company’s sustainability efforts, leading and supporting practices aligned with local community priorities and regulatory frameworks. Megan is focused on developing deep and meaningful relationships in the Qikiqtani region, recently spearheading an innovative program which hires full-time Inuit Knowledge Holders in each of the communities impacted by the Mary River Mine, focused on ensuring Inuit feedback is integrated respectfully in the project.

Megan holds a Bachelor of Science, Honours in Environmental Chemistry and master’s degrees in both public administration and environmental science, bringing a strong combination of technical expertise, policy knowledge, and leadership to her work. Her commitment to environmental stewardship, sustainable development, and building strong relationships with those she works with make her an outstanding Women in Mining.
