 TSM Performance Assessment

 2022 was Yamana’s third year implementing Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) and the first external verification process for the Company, meaning that all 33 TSM indicators across the eight protocols were subject to external verification. We are pleased to report that over 80% of the protocol indicators have been externally verified as Level A or higher. Our verified performance was in line with the self-assessed results.

 Verification was performed virtually at three of our four operations; verification at El Peñón in Chile was performed in person. The verification process led to a number of lessons learned, particularly related to interpretation of certain protocols, and what constitutes sufficient evidence for a given indicator; these lessons learned will improve our future self-assessments.

 Each of our operations excelled in multiple areas, however our performance against the Health and Safety protocol was among our top results at all operations, something we are proud of as we work toward our One Team, One Goal: Zero vision. We also performed well in the Water Stewardship and Indigenous and Community Relationships protocols. We achieved our 7th consecutive year without a discharge of process water to the environment and our performance in the Indigenous and Community Relationships indicators reflects the systems our operations have implemented to develop and maintain open and trust-based relationships with host communities.

 It is worth noting, that in early 2023 The acquisition of Yamana Gold by Pan American Silver was approved by shareholders of both companies. The deal is expected to close in Q1 2023.
