Hecla Quebec
Hecla Quebec is a division of Hecla Mining Company, a major American silver producer founded in 1891. The company, through Hecla Quebec, has owned the Casa Berardi mine since 2013, which is located in the Nord-du-Québec area.

At Hecla Quebec, corporate social responsibility is based on three pillars: the health and safety of our workers, our involvement in the community and our respect for the environment. These also are the three elements that define how we operate and who we are.
The Casa Berardi mine is located 95 kilometres north of the town of La Sarre, in the Nord-du-Québec area, and straddles a 37-kilometre section of the Casa Berardi fault. Hecla has administrative offices in La Sarre and Val-d’Or.
The mine has produced about 2.97 million ounces of gold since production began in 1988, including about 2.28 million ounces since production resumed in November 2006.
Hecla’s strong commitment to corporate social responsibility defines how the mine manages its operations and its role in the community. The company has implemented all TSM Protocols to meet or exceed industry best practices and aims to continuously improve its social, environmental and governance performance.
The Protocols in which Hecla performs best include Indigenous and Community Relationships as well as Safety and Health. Indeed, the last external verification exercise carried out in 2022 confirmed performances of AAA levels for nearly half of the indicators of these 2 Protocols. To learn more, visit our website.
