TSM PROTOCOLS

Indigenous and Community Relationship

The Essakane mine was assessed in 2022 to to meet or exceed Level AAA across all four indicators.  The Rosebel mine was assessed to meet or exceed Level A across all four indicators and the Westwood Mine was assessed to meet or exceed Level c across all four indicators of this protocol. All of our operations are actively in the process of putting in place action plans to achieve and/or maintain high ratings in this protocol.

Energy and GHG Emissions Management

The Essakane mine was assessed in 2022 to meet or exceed level B across all three indicators of this protocol while Rosebel mine was assessed in to meet or exceed Level C across all three indicators of this protocol. This protocol was assessed not to be applicable to Westwood as the facility does not meet the GHG emissions materiality threshold (25,000 tonnes of CO2) with the exception of indicator 2, which was assessed at a Level A. In September 2021, IAMGOLD announced an ambitious plan to achieve net negative emissions by 2050. The details of the plan can be found here. As part of this comprehensive action to combat climate change, IAMGOLD is undertaking an external verification of our energy and GHG emissions management and reporting systems. A detailed roadmap on our path to negative emissions and net positive biodiversity will be published in 2023. Further, IAMGOLD’s 2021 emissions data can be found on the TSM website. IAMGOLD plans to assess all of its site against the Climate Change Protocol in 2023.

Tailings Management Assessment

Essakane and Rosebel mines were assessed in 2022 to meet or exceed level B across all five indicators of this protocol. Westwood mine was assessed to meet or exceed level A across all indicators of this protocol. The results of the self-assessment against this protocol was verified by IAMGOLD’s internal risk and audit team. All of our operations are actively in the process of putting in place action plans to achieve and maintain high ratings in this protocol.

Biodiversity Conservation Management

The Essakane mine was assessed in 2022 to to meet or exceed Level AAA across all three indicators. The Rosebel mine was assessed to meet or exceed Level A across all three indicators while the Westwood mine was assessed to meet or exceed Level C across all indicators. IAMGOLD is conducting a gap assessment to generate an action plan to improve planning, implementation communication of this protocol across all of our sites. As referenced in the Energy and GHG Emissions section above, IAMGOLD has committed to achieving net positive biodiversity – the Company will specify its expected timing to achieve this global objective in the roadmap that will be published in 2023 as part of our emissions strategy. The details of the plan can be found here.

Safety and Health

Essakane and Rosebel Mines were assessed in 2022 to meet or exceed Level A across all five indicators. Westwood Mine was assessed to meet or exceed Level B across all five indicators of this protocol. All of our operations are actively in the process of putting in place action plans to achieve and maintain high ratings in this protocol.

Crisis Management and Communications Planning

Essakane mine and Corporate was assessed as a “yes” in 2022 across all three indicators. Westwood was assessed as “yes” for crisis management and communications preparedness and training and “no” for indicator 2. Rosebel was assessed as “yes” for crisis management and communications preparedness and training and “no” for indicators 2 and 3. All of our operations are actively in the process of putting in place action plans to achieve and maintain high ratings in this protocol.

Preventing Child and Forced Labour

All three mines were assessed in 2022 to have processes in place to meet the requirements of this protocol.

Water Stewardship

All three mines were assessed in 2022 to meet or exceed level A across all four indicators of this protocol.  All of our operations are actively in the process of putting in place action plans to achieve and maintain high ratings in this protocol.
