THE VOICE OF THE CANADIAN

MINING INDUSTRY SINCE 1935

Mining Companies

TSM is primarily implemented as a condition of membership in national mining associations. In the Canadian context, all members of the Mining Association of Canada with operating mine sites in Canada are required to implement TSM. Other Mining Association of Canada members are permitted but not required to implement the program. Companies have four years from the time of joining the Mining Association of Canada, or from the start of commercial production, to report their first externally verified results against the TSM protocols. If a Mining Association of Canada member does not implement TSM, MAC could ultimately revoke the company’s membership. The process for ensuring adherence to the TSM commitment is outlined here. Beyond membership in a national mining association, companies may also qualify to participate in TSM via subscription.
