Our sustainability strategy sets long-term goals to drive improved performance across our activities, including achieving net-zero emissions across our operations and becoming nature positive by conserving or reclaiming three hectares for every one we mine.

We are committed to strong corporate governance. The Board of Directors has a Corporate Governance Committee that works with our General Counsel to ensure that our governance practices are up to date and that they meet applicable standards. Sound governance structures and systems protect the interests of investors and other Communities of Interest, and ensure that the company is well managed.

The Audit, Corporate Governance and Nominating, and Compensation Committees are composed entirely of independent directors.

Headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, Teck owns or has an interest in  operating mines in North and South America as well as one large metallurgical complex and several major development projects in the Americas. Teck has expertise across a wide range of activities related to exploration, development, mining and minerals processing, smelting and refining, safety, environmental protection, materials stewardship, recycling and research.

TSM Results

All of Teck’s operations globally apply TSM and publicly report their TSM results. Teck’s operations include Highland Valley Copper (HVC), Trail, Carmen de Andacollo (CDA), Quebrada Blanca (QB) and Red Dog Operations (RDO). During 2024 Teck Resources Limited announced that it has completed the sale of its remaining 77% interest in the steelmaking coal business to Glencore plc and as such will not be reporting on TSM results in 2024.

In 2024, one of Teck’s operations, Highland Valley Copper (HVC) and Teck Corporate Office (VHO) underwent TSM external verification. PricewaterhouseCoopers provided external verification of all required TSM Protocols for performance indicator results; Internal self-assessments for other operations were performed by Teck head office and site personnel.  The external verification and internal self-assessment activities assessed Teck’s reported performance indicator results for the year ending December 31, 2024, as measured against the requirements of MAC’s TSM Performance Indicators. 

Teck’s overall results for 2023 were strong, and the company achieved high levels of performance across many of the TSM protocols.   

Teck’s performance in TSM is part of their overall approach to sustainability and responsible resource development. Through our sustainability strategy, Teck has identified the following long-term strategic priorities for its work in sustainability: Climate Change, Water, Tailings, Responsible Production, Biodiversity and Reclamation, Health & Safety, Our People, and Communities & Indigenous Peoples. Within each area, Teck has set short-term and long-term goals and targets to continually enhance sustainability performance and assess progress, which the company reports on in its annual sustainability report.
